_New Data Centre for Canberra

Collie recently assisted Equinix in obtaining a Development Approval for a two-storey data centre in Mitchell, a suburb of Canberra in the ACT.

The new data centre will be co-located with an existing data facility and provides an additional 6,000 square metres of floor area predominately for data storage purposes.  Furthermore, the co-location allows existing facilities such as meeting rooms, office space and other amenities to be shared with the new building.

Collie worked closely with the project team in advising on the built form and planning requirements in order to improve the likelihood of the proposal being supported.  As part of the town planning role, Collie prepared a detailed report that provided an assessment of the proposal against the Territory Plan and lodged the application.

Collie liaised extensively with the ACT Planning and Land Authority throughout the town planning process and following minor changes to the application plans, a development approval was issued.

Congratulations to Equinix and the project team.  We look forward to the completion of the project.
