_Werribee Township Regional Park

As part of our ongoing planning role on The Grove, Collie provided town planning services on behalf of Frasers Property Australia to assist with approval of a landscape master plan (prepared by Spiire) under a condition of the planning permit.

Usually, such a process is a reasonably straightforward request however, the approval of the landscape masterplan was complicated by the fact that a significant part of the parkland is ‘earmarked’ for inclusion as part of the broader Werribee Township Regional Park that in the future, will be owned and managed by Parks Victoria.

The approval of the landscape masterplan, which encompasses a new local park and a large area (10 hectares) of encumbered regional open space including drainage wetlands, was further convoluted by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning being the interim land manager and Melbourne Water being responsible for the wetlands.  As part of its role Collie coordinated with Wyndham City Council a series of workshop design meetings with all the relevant authorities to work through the different ownership and management expectations for the park infrastructure.

The addition of the local park and regional open space will provide residents of The Grove residential masterplanned community with substantial opportunities for recreation with the local park and regional open space to comprise a series of formal and informal play areas, shared trails, picnic areas as well as a boardwalk.

Collie looks forward to the completion of the parkland and its significant contribution toward the future Werribee Township Regional Park.
